“Remembering – My dream of Summer’s past” by Peggy Day (Surrey)

– My dream of Summer’s past
by Surrey resident,
Peggy Day
The little village lies in quiet bliss
In the arms of the sun’s embrace
Under blue and heavenly skies
Of winter grey there is no trace.Down the lane where the willows weep
Flows a gentle little stream
Its rippling water is not deep
But tiny fish find life a dream.

This village of our summer days
‘Neath shadowing trees and carpet flowers
Our sun filled walks of many ways
Will ever in my heart be ours.

Now through the silent bowers
I walk as one when there was two
But summer’s gold on trees and flowers
Bring me always close to you.
