‘Books hold memories that go deep’
by Carolyn Hollis
Books hold memories that go deep
Into the past where lives and loves are lost
Where dreams come true or fade and die.
Books take you where you want to go and be happy
or sad or frightened a page at a time; be enthralled
and lost and found and brought to peace or maybe war.
A library is a treasure house: it should smell of things gone by
With a ladder that reaches into a distant land,
a musty, timeless land, shelved with cherished memory
etched in words on pages that you turn and turn and turn again
When computers have all crashed; But libraries remain.
