‘I Am The Walrus’ by John Lennon and Paul McCartney

‘I Am The Walrus’

by John Lennon and Paul McCartney

“…Semolina pilchard climbing up the Eiffel Tower
Elementary penguin singing Hare Krishna
Man you should have seen them kicking Edgar Allan Poe
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen
I am the walrus, goo goo g’ joob goo goo g’ joob
Goo goo g’ joob goo goo g’ joob
Goo gooooooooooo jooba jooba jooba jooba jooba jooba
Jooba jooba
Jooba jooba
Jooba jooba”

You can read the full lyrics here. Although credited to both Lennon and McCartney as all of their Beatles compositions were, this is widely regarded as being the work of John Lennon. Far removed from his later songs such as ‘Imagine’, Lennon was often at his best when spouting nonsensical lyrics.
