‘A Book’ by Emily Dickinson

‘A Book’

by Emily Dickinson2015-03-18 13.27.09

“There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
Of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!”

Emily Dickinson died on this day in 1886, you can read more of her work through Surrey Libraries.
