‘Arcadian bookshelves in a loving library’
by Susan Moberly
“This poem specifically relates to the Performing Arts Library – which is unique in its setting – and, therefore, very special.”

Arcadian bookshelves in a loving library
Ranged in rows amidst the Surrey Hills
A chance to pause, to breath the silken air
Where Bachus can be found outside
Reclining in bucolic mood
And listening to Apollo’s strains within
Before he has to get back to work
As we all must do
Until the next time we can have this secret tryst
To read, to dream, to while away a stolen hour
When we should be doing something else…
